The Deacon Ministry

Hawkinsville's Church Deacons are available to allow the ministeral staff to fulfill their ministries as needs arise through the growth of and changes in methods at Hawkinsville Missionary Baptist Church, just as deacons who were first utilized in

Acts 6:1-7... Brothers, choose seven men from among you who are known to be full of the Spirit and wisdom. We will turn this responsibility over to them and will give our attention to prayer and the ministry of the word." Our Church Deacons fulfill their christian duties by giving Prayer Support, Ministry Support, and Home Support.

Prayer Support Team
Hawkinsville Deacons coordinate with the ministeral staff to fully utilize deacon involvement in prayer through our Prayer Makes A Difference Service, a Prayer Ministry of healing and any other special needs. "The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective." --James 5:16

Ministry Support Team
Hawkinsville Deacons coordinate with ministeral staff to insure ministry takes place to those not able to attend church. This includes hospital visits, shut-in visits, bereavement visits. Each deacon is assigned to a group of adults and youth and keeps track of the members assigned to them in that group.

Home Support Team
Hawkinsville Deacons coordinate with staff to assist members who need assistance at home with tasks they are unable to do. This would include cutting grass for someone with an extended illness, paint or fix up a home for a needy member.
