 Celebrates 25 Years of Service

Dr. Bobby L. Hampton currently serves as the Senior Pastor of the hawkinsville Missionary Baptist Church in Chattanooga, TN. He has served in this capacity since August of 1984. Before being called to the Hawkinsville Missionary Baptist Church (HMBC), he served as the Assistant to the Pastor of the Mt. Cannaan Baptist Church under the mentorship of Pastor Melvin Jordan. It was at the Mt. Canaan where Dr. Hampton was licensed to preach.

Dr. Hampton believes that the challenge that God set forth through the Apostle Paul to “study to show thyself approved” is a standard that must be taken seriously. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration at Alabama A&M University. Realizing the necessity to better prepare himself for the calling of God upon his life, he attended the Covington Theological Seminary where in  he received his Masters Degree. In pursuit of God’s will for his life, he also earned his Doctor of Pastoral Studies Degree from the June of 1997.

Under the anointed leadership of Dr. Hampton, Hawkinsville is transforming the lives of men, women and children, locally and nationally. The congregation has grown from approximately 50 persons to over 500 members and is continuing to grow. The Church holds Sunday worship services and mid-week Bible Studies. In 2006 the Church  built a new facility to accomodate approximately 1,000 in the main sanctuary, 300 the Fellowship Hall and many educational classes to further educate the people of God.

Growing persons in the word of God is a ministry priority. Bible studies, discipleship classes and a comprehensive membership development program (which includes Christian Foundation Classes and Spiritual Gifts Assessments) are critical components within the ministry.

The ministry believes that we must minister to the total person, and that “The Time Is Now” for the people of God to walk in the destiny God has designed for them. This year the ministry will launch an After-School Program with the help of it's outreach ministries and through educating and mentoring, Hawkinsville is equipping the Next Generation to embrace their tomorrow.

Pastor Hampton is a man of great integrity and character who truly has a heart for God’s people. Because of his obedience and faithfulness, God has shown favor upon Hawkinsville. Pastor Hampton believes that we must, “not only build monuments but become instruments. Only then can we effectively minister to His people.”

One of the most cherished blessings in Dr. Hampton's life is his family. He realizes that to have a family that encourages him, supports him and participates in ministry is a gift that must not be taken for granted. His wife of 38 years, Patricia, stands with him day after day to ensure that ministry is done in an excellent way. His five children, Marlon, Travis, Patrick, Bobby Jr. and Valencia enable him and allow him to fulfill God’s will for his life. With his family by his side, Dr. Hampton willingly accepts the challenge of ministry in this new millennium.
